I was recently asked by Eric Stirgus if the image previously posted here in place of a profile photo was a picture of me. I didn't come clean with an answer to that question, and I don't know if I should be flattered or disturbed. (I've never been considered particularly effeminate, as far as I know.) In any case, let me state for the record, that image was not me. It was simply an image of a beautiful woman. Apparently some puritans found my webpage and found that image "inappropriate, offensive, and potentially harmful." I've thought long and hard about how an image could cause someone tangible harm, and I think I've figured it out. Please be warned if you click on the link, you will see a beautiful woman, but it will be your own fault and hopefully the induced self abuse will be something from which you can eventually recover. I've decided to replace my profile photo with something different.

Quote of the day (Tuesday December 12, 2023):

It is not too difficult to do something.
To understand what one is doing can be difficult.
To understand the consequences of what one is doing is extremely difficult.
To do the right thing, one must do all three.

Quote of the day (Tuesday December 12, 2023):

The machines humans are creating are not so terrifying.
What are truly terrifying are the humans the machines are creating.
