Summer Semester 2008, May 19 - July 31

The Linux Computing Lab is open to students enrolled in mathematics courses to work on projects, homework, etc. The available software includes recent versions of Mathematica, Maple, Matlab, a wide variety of specialized software for mathematics research, office productivity applications, technical typing tools, a full programming and development platform, and, of course, full featured web and email clients.

The Lab has 20 PC's running a current version of Linux. The PC's are provided by Student Technology Fee funds, and are powered by two dual core AMD Opteron 265 CPUs running at 1.8 GHz. Each system has 4 Gb of RAM, and is connected to a 19" Samsung LCD monitor. The lab includes a duplex printer.

Computing Lab is located in Skiles Building, Room 156

For unscheduled use of the computing lab, if the door is locked, try opening with your Buzz Card. If this does not work see Jan Lewis in Skiles 117C to have her add you to the Buzz card list to open the door. As a last resort, you may ask somebody in Room 155, across the hall, to open the door.
