Overview

Since mathematics is an integral part of the curricula for students at Georgia Tech, the School of Math offers a wide range of courses serving students in nearly every engineering, science, and management discipline. In addition, we have an excellent offering of degree programs at the Bachelors, Masters, and Doctoral level. This section of our website collects a wealth of information regarding our academic programs.

Undergraduate Program

The School offers programs leading to two undergraduate degrees: the Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and the Bachelor of Science in Discrete Mathematics. Both programs emphasize the study of core mathematics as well as its applications. They provide excellent preparation for employment as well as graduate study in mathematics and related fields. In addition to basic courses in mathematics, the School offers a variety of specialized courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, emphasizing areas related to the research activities of the faculty.

Graduate Program

The School of Mathematics offers traditional Masters and Doctoral degrees in Mathematics, and participates in several other interdisciplinary Masters and Doctoral degrees in collaboration with other units on Campus. At any given time, we have about 70 PhD and 30-40 Masters students, as well as several visiting graduate students from all over the world, who call the School their home. Our graduate programs are designed so that students will obtain a broad perspective in advanced mathematics but also on its applications. Indeed, each program stresses a solid foundation in graduate-level mathematics as well as an exposure to the use of mathematics in other disciplines.

We offer about 25 graduate courses during each of Fall and Spring Semesters, so there is always something of interest for every one. But, be aware that many of our graduate courses are very popular across Campus and fill-in very quickly.
