  • Challenges in Aperiodic Media
Jean Bellissard Conference honoring the 65th Birthday of Professor Jean Bellissard will be held during February 28-March 2, 2011 at the University of Lyon, France.

The theory of aperiodic media is a cornerstone of solid state physics and wonderfully rich in the variety of the mathematical techniques involved. Aperiodicity allows a better understanding of properties of such media, but still a large number of challenging questions remains open. We wish to unite experts from different communities to exhibit the state of the art and exchange ideas about aperiodic media. Lectures will include the following topics:

    • The structural analysis of quasiperiodic media by K-theoretic and geometric means with applications to gap labelling theorems, spectral analysis and diffraction.
