Georgia Tech is the purple area on the regional map. The campus is bounded by I-75/85 on the east, North Avenue on the south, and 10th Street on the north. BY CAR: Driving south on I-75/85 into Atlanta: Take Exit #249D (North Avenue). At the top of the exit ramp, turn right onto North Avenue. Cross Techwood Drive (the first light) and continue on North Avenue to Cherry Street (before the next light, Tech Parkway) and make a right. Make a left onto Ferst Drive. Follow Ferst and turn right at the Student Center Deck (this is past the ticket booth for the "Student Center Lot"). Driving north on I-75/85 into Atlanta: Take Exit #249D (Spring Street/West Peachtree). At the top of the exit ramp, proceed through the first intersection (Spring Street). At the next intersection (West Peachtree), turn left. Continue on West Peachtree for approximately one block and turn left on North Avenue. Cross over the interstate and Techwood Drive. Continue on North Avenue to Cherry Street (before the next light, Tech Parkway) and make a right. Make a left onto Ferst Drive. Follow Ferst and turn right at the Student Center Deck (this is past the ticket booth for the "Student Center Lot"). Techwood Drive Lane Closure: Techwood Drive between 16th and 10th streets will close beginning February 9, 2008. From I-20: Take I-20 into Atlanta, exit on I-75/85 N, and follow the appropriate directions above. Parking rules are very loosely enforced after 4pm and gates go up on most gated campus lots around that time. Interpret that at your own discretion. BY TAXI: Tell the driver to enter the Tech campus from North Avenue by turning onto Cherry Street. After one block there is a stop sign and Cherry St. is closed off beyond the sign. Leave the taxi at the barrier and walk straight ahead. The Skiles Building is the second building on the left after the barrier. BY MARTA: It is not necessary to use a car or taxi from the airport, and if you arrive at rush hour it will actually be quicker to use rapid transit, locally known as MARTA. There is a MARTA station inside the airport, and the fare is $1.75. At the Airport MARTA station, go up the stairs and board any train, right or left. Take the train 20 minutes or so to North Avenue Station. When leaving the train, turn left and exit the station to the south (opposite to the direction of the train). Go to the right out of the station and walk west along North Avenue. After crossing over a freeway the campus will be to the right. Near the top of a hill, turn right onto Cherry Street and enter the campus. The Skiles building will be to the left just before Cherry St. bends sharply to the right. Typically the walk between the School of Mathematics and MARTA is ten minutes or less. The School of Mathematics is located on the first and second floors of Skiles Building, which is the highlighted building on the map. LODGING: In all cases, ask about the Georgia Tech rate. |
