Directions to Holiday Inn Express from the Airport

Go to the BAGGAGE area, and near there you will see signs for MARTA (Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit). You can catch any train that leaves from the terminal, and in about 20 minutes you'll get to the North Avenue stop. Get off there. When you come out of the station, you should be on the Northeast corner of West Peachtree and North Avenue. Cross the street going West on North Avenue. Keep going West. You'll go over a bridge that goes over the Interstate. Keep going West. As you pass Georgia Tech on your right, you'll see the Holiday Inn on your left, at the corner of North Avenue and Luckie St. You'll have to cross the street again to get over there. And incidentally, it may be marginally more efficient to cross over to the South side of North Avenue back before you cross over the Interstate.

Directions to Campus from Holiday Inn Express

When you come out of the Holiday Inn, go East on North Ave. and you will see Cherry St. about 1/2 block on your left. Cross the street and walk up Cherry St. You will come to a stop sign after one block and you will see a construction area in front of the building directly ahead of you. The Skiles Building (where the School of Math is located) is just ahead of the construction site on your left. So you will have to cross over to the other side of the street and continue up Cherry St. for about a half block, and you will see the Skiles Building on your left. It's a large, red brick building. If you walk towards the end of the building (where the street curves), you will see a Mickey Mouse clock on the face of the building. When you come in at street level, you will be on the second floor. The Workshop is in Rm. 255.

Day's Inn Directions

AIRPORT to HOTEL: Atlanta has a nice rapid-rail system called MARTA, with a station at the airport. There is a sign with a blue and yellow logo near the baggage claim. Since the Days Inn is on the same line as the airport, and the airport is at the end of the line, just watch for the right stop, which is NORTH AVENUE. After getting off the train:

Take the north exit to the street (i.e., walk in the direction the train was traveling).
Go up the stairs and turn left.
Leave the building and turn right onto the street, which is West Peachtree St.
Then turn immediately right onto 3rd St.
Follow 3rd St. one block to Peachtree St. (Note: Peachtree St. and West Peachtree St. are different, and parallel.) The Days Inn will be diagonally to the right across the street on Peachtree St.

HOTEL to MATH DEPT (Skiles Building): In the case you want to walk to the Campus, here are the directions.

THIS ROUTE SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT NIGHT, but is OK in the daytime.

Turn right onto Peachtree, and then turn left (west) onto 3rd St.
Follow 3rd St. to its end, and continue straight through the pedestrian tunnel.
The campus begins at the other end of the tunnel.
Continue straight after the tunnel and follow the street to the top of the next hill.
When this street bends pi/2 radians to the left, there is a building pi/4 radians to the left, which is SKILES.

The walk from the DAYS INN to the Math Dept. takes 15 minutes or so.

Directions to Georgia Tech from the Airport by train (MARTA): Take the Northbound train and get off at the North Ave. station. Exit the train station at the end that says North Ave./West Peachtree St. You can take the Number 13 bus at the station and it will take you very near the campus (to Cherry Street). You will need a train-to-bus transfer which you get free from the train entrance turnstile at the Airport.
