Thomas Morley, School of Mathematics, Georgia Tech
Dr. Thomas Morley has been a professor at Georgia Tech since 1982. Georgia Tech developed a pilot program allowing students from over 90 local high schools to take Calculus II and III through Georgia Tech's Distance Learning program. Dr. Morley has been teaching these classes since 2005. In 2007 he was honored with the Class of 1934 Outstanding Innovative Use of Education Technology prize. Tom has worked closely with CEISMC, the Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics and Computing. Dr. Morley has been involved in the development of the mathematics curriculum in the new Georgia Mathematics Performance Standard and offer summer workshops to elementary and middle school teachers. For these and countless other outreach initiatives, the HSMC wishes to name Dr. Thomas Morley honorary chair for this year's High School Math Competition.
