Relative Velocity Applet

Instructions for the use of the Applet:

You can enter in new definitions of P(x,y) and Q(x,y); just hit return after modifying each one.

You can also set the range of the graph, nd read off cursor position as in other applets in this series.

If you select the "more controls" radio button, it brings up a panel with two buttons and a "scale factor" field. Increasing or decreasing the scale factor has the effect of changing the scale at which the vecotros are drawn. If they are all bunched up, enter a lower value and hit the "return" key. If they are too short to see, enter a higher value and hit the "return" key.

The "absolute" and relative "relative" buttons toggle back and forth between graphing the vector field in given form, or as a realtive velocity field, relative to the velocity at the selscted point. This selected point is shown in red, and is selected by clicking on the graph.
