2008 Undergraduate Teaching Assistant Positions
The School of Mathematics is looking for responsible juniors and seniors with a strong math background, a good GPA, and excellent people and communication skills to join our undergraduate teaching assistant (UTA) team this fall.
Most spring UTAs are selected from the fall UTA team, but there may be a few positions for new UTAs during the spring term. If you cannot be a TA in the fall term and wish to apply for the Spring 2009 UTA position, please submit your application at this time.
An undergraduate teaching assistant (UTA) has many responsibilities.
Teaching two 50-minute recitation sessions each week.
Grading homework, quiz/exam papers, and projects (including proctoring and grading during the final exams week) for the lead instructor.
Working one hour per week in the Math Lab.
Holding office hours (at least one hour per week in addition to the lab hour).
Attending organizational meetings with the lead instructor.
Attending the CETL/Mathematics TA Orientation (tentatively scheduled on Sunday afternoon, August 17).
Enrolling in CETL 2000 MAT, TA Development Seminar (11:05 am -11:55 am on Tuesdays during the semester).
The stipend for the 2008-2009 academic year will be approximately $1,700 per semester.
Upon a satisfactory completion of the UTA duties, a UTA will receive one credit hour (P/F) of CETL 2000 MAT.
Applications will be available at this site on February 1, and will be accepted until March 3.
