Donnelly's rotating cylinder
Euler Lagrange Equations

Objective: Build an apparatus that allows you to rotate a cylinder of liquid about its vertical axis, measure the rotation speed, and measure the interface. Compare to solution of Euler-Langrange equation.
(Donnelly is the name of a famous physicist who carried out many versions of this experiment with superfluid helium.)

Progress:

Fall 2001 (Elms) Very well written and clear report. Built apparatus with a CD motor. Circuits available in report. Visual comparison of photographed interface and calculated interface could be improved.

*Fall 2002 (Jennifer Lee, Justin Melvin, Joshua Cuneo, Narendhra Seshadri)
