Official Communications: At Georgia Tech, the official
method for commicating with students is by email. For example, homework assignments will
be made by email, and as we approach test dates, the exact date for each test will be
confirmed by email. So it is important for you to check your Georgia Tech email account
on a daily basis.
Testing Policy: Calculator, computers, ipods, cell phones and
other electronic devices may not be used during tests or during the
final exam. Also, no formula sheets or other memory aids are permitted.
Attendance: Students are
expected to attend all lectures and recitations, without exception.
Short quizzes will be given in recitation sections based on material
discussed in the lectures, and on homework problems.
Homework problems. Homework problems will be assigned
after each lecture. Students are strongly encouraged to work
all problems. Working on homework problems as part of a group is also
strongly encouraged. Although homework will not be collected,
recitation quizzes will often feature problems taken directly from this list.
Make Up Exam Policy: Make-up exams will be given only for
(1) official representation of the Institute, and (2) documented medical
emergencies.
Student Support: Professor
Trotter and the four teaching assistants hold regularly scheduled office hours,
and students are strongly encouraged to drop by for help. Come
sooner rather than later. Experience shows that some
Georgia Tech students are reluctant to ask for help as it
something they never had to do in high school. Don't fall into
this trap. The School of Mathematics wants every student to
succeed and we will help you if you make the effort.
Math Tutor Center: Free
tutoring services are provided in the Math Lab, located in Skiles 257.
Academic Integrity: Students
are reminded of the obligations and expectations associated
with the Georgia Tech Academic Honor Code.
