Honors Courses

School of Mathematics has the following honors courses. (We do not offer honors courses in the summer semester.)

 

MATH 1564, Linear Algebra with Abstract Vector Spaces (offered in the fall and spring semesters).

You must have SAT Mathematics 750 or Converted ACT Math 750 or or Calculus AP BC score of 5, or Calculus Undergraduate Semester level MATH 1552 Minimum Grade of B.

Current students must have B or higher in MATH 1552 to take this course. Students must apply for MATH 1564 to obtain a permit. A new freshman with satisfying the requirements will received an e-mail invitation to apply for MATH 1564 during FASET.

MATH 2561, Honors Multivariable Calculus (usually offered in the spring).

You must have a B or higher in MATH 1552 or MATH 1512; and a B or higher in MATH 1553, MATH 1554 or MATH 1564, to be enrolled in this course. During the fall term, you may register for this course during Phase I of registration if you are currently taking one of the prereqs and satisfied the other one. At the end of the fall semester, students in 2551 (the spring term) who make C, D, or F in the prerequisites will be dropped.

MATH 2562, Honors Differential Equations (check projected schedule).

You must have a B or higher in MATH 2551 or equivalent to take this course.

MATH 3022, Honors Applied Combinatorics (ckeck projected schedule).

You must have B or higher in MATH 1552 to be enrolled in this course.

MATH 3225, Honors Probability and Statistics (usually offered in the fall).

You must have B or higher in MATH 2551, MATH 2461, or MATH 2605 to be enrolled in this course. If you are in one of the above courses in the spring or summer term, you may register for MATH 3225 during Phase I of registration. In early August, we will drop any students in 3225 (the fall term) who make C, D, or F in 2551, 2561, or 2605 in the spring or summer term.
